After director JJ Abrams dropped off the Star Trek 3 project to concentrate on the Star Wars sequel, Roberto Orci, has also dropped off as a writer and director. Orci has been the writer for the past two installments. He was supposed to be involved in the drafting of the screenplay along with Patrick McKay and John D. Payne. Following Divergent’s $4.9 million debut take at the box office, the Insurgent movie is set for its March 20, 2015, theatrical showing as originally announced by Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate subsidiary. The two films are of course the adaptations of “Divergent” and “Insurgent,” which are the first and second books in the “Divergent” trilogy for the young-adult genre written by Veronica Roth. The third book in the series, “Allegiant,” will also be made into a movie.
