Gotham returns Monday, January 5, at 8:00 p.m. on Fox with its 11th episode entitled “Rogues’ Gallery.” According to the network’s official synopsis, it will have Detective Gordon reporting for his new assignment at the newly re-opened Arkham Asylum. His first day at his new post gets off to a rocky start when the murder of a guard ignites an investigation, leading him to meet Dr. Leslie Thompkins (guest star Morena Baccarin). The Mindy Project returns Tuesday, January 6, at 9:30 p.m. on Fox with its 12th episode for season 3, entitled “Stanford.” According to the network’s official synopsis, it will have Mindy heading off to Stanford University, where she will find herself making a less-than-stellar first impression in her fellowship class. Meanwhile, back in New York, the practice is determined to win a basketball tournament. BBC One announced that it will be airing a single-episode Christmas special of Sherlock in December 2015, followed by the premiere of Season 4 in early 2016. Filming begins this month in fact. “It’s taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work, so we’re thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again,” said Hartwood Films executive producer Sue Vertue in a BBC One media release.Read more

Walt Disney’s Alice in Wonderland 2, the follow up film to the Tim Burton-helmed Alice in Wonderland 2010 box-office hit is now officially entitled as “Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.” James Bobin is directing based on a screenplay by Linda Woolverton. Danny Elfman will provide the musical scoring for the Alice in Wonderland sequel. Tim Burton will remain as producer. The summary of the Alice in Wonderland 2 plot at Coming Soon reads: “Alice In Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass revisits Lewis Carroll's beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland - and back in Time.” Principal photography began 4 August and ended 31 October 2014. Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass will be shown in theaters beginning 27 May 2016.Read more

The Martian is Ridley Scott’s movie adaptation of Andy Weir’s 2012 science fiction novel of the same name. Produced by 20th Century Fox, it is scheduled for release on 25 November 2015, in the process, bumping off the Prometheus sequel from the studio’s schedule. Scott will be directing the film project from a screenplay by Drew Goddard based on Weir’s book. Despicable Me 3 will be shown in theaters beginning 30 June 2017, according to the official announcement from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment. Other than that, no specific details have been revealed about the upcoming 3-D computer-animated comedy film. Angry Birds, the computer-animated movie based on the video game series of the same name is scheduled for release in theaters in 3D on 1 July 2016. The main cast has Jason Sudeikis as Red, the bird with a temper problem; Josh Gad as the speedy Chuck; Danny McBride as the volatile Bomb; Bill Hader as Bad Piggies; Maya Rudolph as Matilda; and, Peter Dinklage as the Mighty Eagle. Two months ago, while promoting his film, Kill the Messenger, of which he was also producer, Jeremy Renner was asked by fans at the Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session about the possibility of a standalone Hawkeye movie. The actor replied: “Am I interested? Always have been interested. I always love Clint [Barton], and in the last Avengers: Age of Ultron, we got to dive into him some more. Very excited about the outcome of it, and where it can go in the future. But all I can do is want. And that's all I can do. It all comes down to the content, and really how the puppeteers at Marvel can manifest a story that's worthy of a solo movie.
