The Mindy Project: Mindy goes to Stanford

The Mindy Project returns Tuesday, January 6, at 9:30 p.m. on Fox with its 12th episode for season 3, entitled "Stanford." According to the network's official synopsis, it will have Mindy heading off to Stanford University, where she will find herself making a less-than-stellar first impression in her fellowship class. Meanwhile, back in New York, the practice is determined to win a basketball tournament. The show's regular cast will be back with Mindy Kaling as Mindy; Chris Messina as Danny; Ed Weeks as Jeremy; Ike Barinholtz as Morgan; Adam Pally as Peter, Xosha Roquemore as Tamra and Beth Grant as Beverly.

Fox has released a new extended preview of the upcoming 12th episode with the writer Mindy occasionally voicing some comments about the situation the character she portrays gets herself into. In one scene, Mindy is shown as she arrives at the university for her fellowship program with Danny dragging her suitcase behind. There she meets an Indian woman whom Danny awkwardly mistook to be a Mexican. Then she proceeds to make a terrible first impression with one of her professors when she comes to her class in a tight, pink dress thinking she's attending some kind of party. In another scene, Mindy and Danny are shown getting her settled in her dorm room - complete with a "We Can Do It!" Rosie the Riveter poster above her bed. When Danny hears from Mindy who her professor is, he tells her he went to medical school with him and offers to call in a good word for her. Mindy of course turns down his offer, telling him she wants to do things her way. In a later scene in the episode, Mindy and Danny are shown finally having dinner with her professor, Bob (played by guest star Tate Ellington) and his wife (portrayed by guest star Anna Gastayer), which result in some interesting and funny sitcom moments.
