It's not strange for series to do things to hide their actress' baby bumps. Scandal used creative camera angles and coats to hide Kerry Washington's while Hayden Panettiere's was written into the script and this time Rachel Bilson's own pregnancy was made into a plot for her character, Zoe.
According to the show's executive producer, Leila Gerstein who shares with E!, "She's going to freak out as I think many people would! This is an unplanned, unexpected pregnancy, she's a doctor, she's not even with the father, so episode 2 is all about her dealing with the fact that she's pregnant, figuring out what she's going to do now that she's pregnant, what she's going to do about Wade, how she's going to tell him, and how he's going to take that news."
In addition to that, Gerstein adds that by the third episode, Zoe and Wade will have their own personal reactions, in crazy albeit over exaggerated ways. However the two will be making major decisions between the two of them and the child, like a wedding.
When it came to Bilson's pregnancy, Gerstein was estactic. She shared to E! that she was honestly happy about the pregnancy, "It was not the way I was planning to go with them but it's an amazing storytelling device and I think everyone is going to be really excited and pleased by it. It's great for Wade and Zoe because it forces them to have to grow up right away."
The new season may be short with only 10 episodes but the executive producer promises fans that they will not be disappointed as each episode is jam-packed with story. "Everyone is going to be satisfied that by the end of the 10 episodes, all the central love triangles have been resolved, all the central questions have been answered and we're going to have a lot of fun along the way. We have been saving a lot of stuff for each of the stories and we decided to burn through it all this year," Mstarz reports.
Hart of Dixie returns on January 9 at its regular time slot on the CW.
