Producer and director Brian Singer today announce via his Instagram page that Olivia Munn has been cast to play Betsy Braddock, better known as the mutant superhero Psylocke in X-Men: Apoclypse, the sequel to last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. “Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock! #Psylocke #XmenApocalypse #Xmen,” he wrote with a link to a photo of the actress.Read more

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016. Although touted as the sequel to last year’s Man of Steel major blockbuster, the film's official website shows that Ben Affleck who plays Batman gets first billing over Henry Cavill who stars as Superman, so much so that Alan Orange at Movie Web writes: “this is now looked at as more of a prequel to Justice League Part 1 and Justice League Part 2. A true sequel to Man of Steel, which solely focuses on Henry Cavill's Clark Kent is rumored to be in the works, and will supposedly be released before 2020.”Read more

Michelle MacLaren has dropped out of directing Warner Bros. And DC Entertainment's Wonder Woman in-development film due to creative differences, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together,” the studio reportedly said in its statement.Read more

Walt Disney Studios on Monday announced that it will be co-producing and co-financing Steven Spielberg's The BFG with Walden Media according to Variety. Walt Disney’s Ant-Man, the twelfth main installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film franchise, will be shown in theaters beginning July 17. While the full-length official trailer is still set for release Monday, a new thirty-second teaser clip was dropped at today's MTV Awards show featuring an off-camera Darren Cross/Yellow Jacket pitching a shrinking-growing suit capable of creating “a soldier the size of an insect”, while the character Michael Douglas plays warns about the possibility of the technology falling into the wrong hands.Read more

Universal Pictures’ Pitch Perfect 2, the sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit musical comedy film Pitch Perfect which was based loosely on Mickey Rapkin's non-fiction book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory, has yet to hit the theaters on May 15. But pre-production on the planned Pitch Perfect 3 is reportedly already underway. Los Angeles Times' Amy Kaufman tweeted [via Vulture] that “Rebel Wilson just told me there will be a 3rd @PitchPerfect and she recently signed on to be in it! (She doesn't know abt Kendrick.)” However, aside from Wilson, no one from the cast nor the studio has confirmed the news.Read more

Sony Pictures and Media Rights Capital (MRC) have agreed to co-finance the adaptation of Stephen King's “Dark Tower,” an eight-book saga revolving around a gunslinger named Roland Deschain, for both the big-screen and TV according to Deadline.
