Child 44 takes Tom Hardy’s Leo Demidov on hunt for a serial child-killer
Child 44, the film adaptation of the 2008 thriller novel of the same name by British writer Tom Rob Smith, is scheduled to be released to US theaters on April 17. Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay penned by Richard Price based on Smith’s book, the movie follows the story of Leo Demidov, a disgraced Russian secret police officer in the 1950s’ Stalinist Russia who was framed for treason and who was sent to a remote outpost, where he uncovers a series of mysterious murders tied to a government conspiracy.

The Moon and the Sun, the movie adaptation of Vonda N. McIntyre’s 1997 Nebula Award-winning historical sci-fi novel of the same name, is set for release to US theaters on April 10. Directed by Sean McNamara from a script written by Ronald Bass, Barry Berman, Laura Harrington, Bill Mechanic and James Schamus, it follows the 17th century French King Louis XIV’s (Pierce Brosnan) quest for immortality as he captures and tries to steal the lifeforce of a mermaid, a quest complicated when his illegitimate daughter Marie-Josephe (Kaya Scodelario) discovers and befriends the creature (Fan Bingbing).Read more

Furious 7, the seventh installment in the Fast & Furious film series, is set for release on April 3. Directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by Chris Morgan, the film is set to take place just after Fast & Furious 6. Events will be shown unfolding as a result of a revenge plot that will be hatched by Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) for the death of his brother Owen in London.Read more

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, the sequel to the 2012 British horror film The Woman in Black which starred Daniel Radcliffe, opened with an estimated $7.8 million take at the box office with its January 2nd US evening premier screening, reports Variety. Directed by Tom Harper from a screenplay written by Jon Croker based on author Susan Hill’s original story, the sequel is set 40 years after the events in the first film.Read more

Taken 3, officially titled It Ends Here, is the third and final installment in the ‘Taken’ film series written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. As with the original and the sequel, Taken 3 stars Liam Neeson in the lead as ex-CIA operative Brian Mills. Following Divergent’s $4.9 million debut take at the box office, the Insurgent movie is set for its March 20, 2015, theatrical showing as originally announced by Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate subsidiary. The two films are of course the movie adaptations of “Divergent” and “Insurgent,” which are the first and second books in the “Divergent” trilogy for the young-adult genre written by Veronica Roth. Insurgent was directed by Robert Schwentke following Divergent director Neil Burger’s previous announcement that he will no longer continue with the series.Read more

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, the sixth installment in the Paranormal Activity film series, is scheduled to be released on March 13, 2015, by Paramount Pictures. Directed by Gregory Plotkin from a screenplay written by Jason Pagan and Andrew Stark, the upcoming supernatural horror movie will be seen in theaters in 3D. Aside from Kate Featherstone who will be reprising her original role as the franchise’s main protagonist ‘Katie Featherstone,’ the names of the other actors who will comprise the cast of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension have yet to be announced.
