Mark Ronson's song "Uptown Funk" featuring Bruno Mars has exploded on the music scene and heard all over radio stations. They have been seen performing the song live on television everywhere from "Saturday Night Live" to "The Voice".
Now the Ronson/Mars collab has just made another huge stride by hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This means that Taylor Swift's six week run on top with her hit song "Blank Space" has come to an end.
"It's definitely one of the best things I've ever done," Mark said of his number one song. "And, I know that it's one of Bruno's favorite things that he's ever done, as well."
"Uptown Funk" is the first single on Ronson's upcoming album titled Uptown Special, which is set to release to stores on January 27th. This is Mark's fourth studio album.
Bruno is now regarded as one of the most successful solo artists in the world, landing 5 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since his career launched in 2010, faster than any male singer since Elvis Presley. In 2011, Mars was named one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. In 2014, he was ranked number one on the Forbes 30 under 30 list. Mars was also nominated as Top Artist of the Year in May 2014 at the Billboard Music Awards.
Swift's "Blank Space" is now in the second spot and Hozier's "Take Me to Church" stayed put at number three this week. Rounding out the top five is Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" and Meghan Trainor's "Lips Are Movin," coming in at spots four and five, respectively.
Swift broke new ground with her new album 1989. She has become the first female artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart to replace herself at the No. 1 spot. With "Shake It Off" and "Black Space," Swift is the only artist with two Hot 100 No. 1's in 2014. It is also a rare honor for the first two singles of an album to top the Hot 100.
