A 'GoPro Hero 5' could be ready to launch by fall of 2015. That is of course, if the company could keep up with its current track record of releasing a new and better iteration of its latest top of the line product around that particular time every year, almost without fail.
Recall that on October 5, 2014, GoPro Inc officially released HERO4 for retail. In October 2013, it released the HERO3+. In late 2012, the company introduced its Hero 3 line of cameras. On October 24, 2011, the HD HERO2 was launched. On January 25, 2010, and on August 6, 2010, the HD HERO Naked and the HD HERO 960 were released, respectively. Its Digital HERO 5 launched in 2008, its Digital HERO 3 in 2007, and its maiden GoPro Hero 35mm camera, all-season sports camera in 2005.
Still, everything that's been written about a forthcoming 'GoPro Hero 5' are for now just rumors and should not be taken seriously. Most of these rumors say that GoPro's next flagship product would be hitting the market around the third and four quarter this year. They also say that the product itself would see an improvement in diving capabilities from 30 meters up to 60 meters, a faster Bluetooth 4.0, a longer lasting 2100 mAh battery, resolution of up to 8K, and an improvement in frame rate for 4K filming. They also say that it would be priced at around $100 cheaper than the GoPro Hero4 models.
The company's present flagship product, the GoPro Hero4, is currently priced at $499.99 for Hero4 Black, $399.99 for Hero4 Silver, and $130 for the new standard Hero which is the likely successor to Hero3. The bigger and pricier GoPro Hero4 Black promises twice the performance of Hero3 as it has twice more processing power and twice faster video frame rates. The GoPro Hero4 Silver, in addition, has a unique touchscreen feature not found in any of the other GoPro models.
