Paramount Pictures wants more Transformers. Taking a page from Fox’s incubation of three Avatar sequels and what Disney is doing to revive Star Wars with sequels and spinoffs, the studio is negotiating with Akiva Goldsman to work with franchise director Michael Bay, executive producer Steven Spielberg and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura to organize a “writer’s room” that will incubate ideas for a potential multi-part Transformers sequel, and come up with potential spinoff films based on the billion-dollar franchise from the Hasbro toy line.Read more

Paramount Pictures’ Hot Tub Time Machine 2, the sequel to the 2010 box office hit Hot Tub Machine, will open in theaters beginning February 20. Directed by Steve Pink from Josh Heald’s script, the sci-fi comedy movie will take off after the events shown in the first film. It is rated ‘R’ by the MPAA because of some of its crude sexual content and language throughout, graphic nudity, drug use and some violence. Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water will be showing in theaters beginning February 6. Produced and directed by Paul Tibbit from a script he co-wrote with Stephen Hillenburg, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, the 3D sequel to the 2004box office hit animated film The SpongeBob Square Pants Movie will be featuring both live-action scenes and CGI animation. In this movie, the characters notably becomes CGI animated when they get on land, unlike in the Nickelodeon TV episodes and in the first film where they remain in their 2D look.Read more

Paramount Pictures’ Mission: Impossible 5 is set for release on December 25. The fifth installment in the franchise is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce and Will Staples. Tom Cruise which is co-producing the project, returns as star, reprising his role of IMF agent and main movie protagonist Ethan Hunt.Read more
