"Blue Bloods" has recently reached another milestone during its seventh season, as the CBS drama aired its 150th episode on TV. Not many shows get to reach this milestone and the series' ratings definitely prove that its loyal followers are not going anywhere anytime soon.
High ratings, however, do not always signify renewals for TV shows, as certain dramas bow down before the spark dies down with its audience. In the case of "Blue Bloods" Season 8 being the series finale, Carter Matt notes that it will not give the show justice if CBS pulls the plug on the show on its eighth season.
Fans have recently seen some progress in Eddie and Jamie's relationship, but things progressed quite slowly following their kiss in season seven. While "Blue Bloods" Season 8 may finally feature the most awaited progress in their relationship, suddenly ending the show may not leave fans satisfied.
It also remains to be seen whether Frank will resign from his post on "Blue Bloods" Season 8 and whether he will find a worthy successor. In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Kevin Wade said that the eighth season is very much about seeing Frank adjust to the new mayor.
Mayor Poole resigned from his position during the season seven finale, which means that the new mayor will be a challenge for Frank on "Blue Bloods" Season 8. Wade said that Frank will have a lot more on his hands because the new mayor "won't be a professional politician."
