People might already be waiting for "Black Mirror" Season 4 but some are still hung up on the previous season's delightful love story. There have been hopes that Charlie Brooker will work on a sequel to "San Junipero", a possibility that the creator squashes a few months ago. However, it looks like Brooker has changed his mind and is open to revisiting Kelly and Yorkie's world. Will Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis reprise their fun roles in the Netflix series?
CeleBeat has previously reported on Charlie Brooker stating that he is terrified of the success "San Junipero" had and thinks that "Black Mirror" Season 4 "can't really do the same thing again." After all, the touching tale of Kelly and Yorkie has been the only episode that has a (relatively) happy ending. So is there any chance that Brooker will revisit this eternally joyful universe? The creator says that it is possible.
Charlie Brooker and "Black Mirror" Season 4 executive producer Annabel Jones were guests on Indiewire's Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, where the creator decided to speak up once again about "San Junipero". Interestingly, Brooker's comments were somehow hopeful but not for the return of Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis' Kelly and Yorkie. According to Brooker, there is a possibility of doing a similar episode but not "with the same characters."
"I could return to ['San Junipero'] quite easily, you could come up with another story in that world," Charlie Brooker stated. It certainly doesn't look like it will happen in "Black Mirror" Season 4 but the happy VR-universe could be revisited in the future. Perhaps fans could even get a glimpse at Kelly and Yorkie as background characters in the Netflix series. Get all the latest updates on your favorite TV shows only here from CeleBeat.
