The second season of "Supergirl" was certainly a fun one but some fans believe that the men in Kara Danvers' life took the spotlight away from the show's heroine. However, it looks like the CW series has dealt with its problems. Is it possible that James Olsen's Guardian and Mon-El will not be coming back in "Supergirl" Season 3? Could Mehcad Brooks and Chris Wood team up for a spinoff series similar to "Legends of Tomorrow"?
The last few episodes of "Supergirl" Season 2 didn't have much of James Olsen, who seemed to be struggling with his new identity as Guardian, the vigilante that Cat Grant simply doesn't approve of. However, James wasn't the only one in trouble. Mon-El was almost killed in "Nevertheless, She Persisted" but was saved by Kara Danvers, who placed him back into his pod and sent him off to space (via Entertainment Weekly). Does this mean that Mehcad Brooks and Chris Wood are being written off the series? Some fans are already hoping that Guardian and Mon-El will find their way into a possible spinoff show where they can be the heroes.
CarterMatt is already pitching a possible spinoff series starring Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen. The proposed storyline would follow James as he tries to understand just what it means to be Guardian and perhaps get a little help along the way. If a standalone show featuring Brooks is in the future, there could be a way to bring back Chris Wood's Mon-El from that wormhole in the Phantom Zone. A team up between the vigilante and the Daxamite certainly sounds like a fun spinoff that would follow "Supergirl" Season 3.
Fans will need to keep their fingers crossed if they want to see Mehcad Brooks and Chris Wood in a spinoff series featuring Guardian and Mon-El. In the meantime, "Supergirl" Season 3 is expected to air on The CW this fall.
