"Vikings" Season 5 air date is in late 2017, as the cast and crew have recently wrapped up production. The production phase of the show took a year to complete and while it took quite a long time, executive producer Morgan O'Sullivan told IFTN that the entire season will air in late 2017.
"It'll be towards the end of the year I think," he said on "Vikings" Season 5 premiere on History Channel.
O'Sullivan was all praises for the hard work that the entire cast and crew dedicated for "Vikings" Season 5. The result of their hard work would be seen in a couple of months on the small screens and the showrunner promised viewers that the fifth season will "blow your socks off."
"Vikings" Season 5 will see a lot of changes in the characters, especially after the death of Travis Fimmel's Ragnar in the season four finale. It is expected that a new ruler will take over his place, which would keep the story more interesting and complicated at the same time.
Katheryn Winnick teased the introduction of King Angantyr through a post on her Instagram page. This led to speculations that King Angantyr will be the new ruler on "Vikings" Season 5.
There are also rumors that Lagertha will die on "Vikings" Season 5 following the death of Ragnar in season four. Many fans are also hoping to see Fimmel return to the History Channel series in the form of flashbacks following his character's death.
