It looks like "The Defenders" will not feature plenty of quality time between New York's heroes. Finn Jones has just confirmed that the upcoming Marvel series will only cover a few days in the lives of Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Does this mean that fans will not get to see Luke and Danny Rand become the besties that they are in the comic books? Will the Netflix show finally get an answer about Danny's mother Heather Rand?
Finn Jones recently made an appearance at the 2017 Comicpalooza in Houston, where he was joined by Mike Colter (via EpicStream). The former "Game of Thrones" actor spoke about their new series "The Defenders", confirming that the show will cover "a short amount of time". Jones stated that the "8 episodes" of the Marvel series "takes place over a couple of days," adding that Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones will only be fighting on one side out of "necessity." Unfortunately, it sounds like Luke will not be a big fan of Danny Rand.
So does this mean that there is no chance for any buddy team up between Danny Rand and Luke Cage in "The Defenders"? There have been speculations that most of the show will be about the birth of "Heroes for Hire". However, fans will need to wait for "Iron Fist" Season 2 as well as "Luke Cage" Season 2 to find out if the Marvel characters will get more time to buddy up. In the meantime, some believe that the upcoming Netflix show could deal with a theory about Danny's mother Heather.
There are speculations that Heather Rand may have survived the plane crash that killed her husband Wendell and left her son Danny in the care of monks in the first season of "Iron Fist". Some believe that Danny's mother was rescued by The Hand and could have risen to become one of the major players in the organization. It is possible that Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra might be the one to reveal Heather's fate in "The Defenders", which premieres on Netflix on August 18, as per CeleBeat.
