Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe dating rumors have long been fuelling online news sites, as the "Outlander" stars' chemistry remains undeniable on and off screens. While a recent photo raised speculations that there is more between them than just friends, the stars slammed the rumors with a photo of Heughan's girlfriend.
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan dating rumors are untrue, as the "Outlander" actress recently shared a photo of herself together with Heughan and his girlfriend, MacKenzie Mauzy. According to MailOnline, Balfe greeted her co-star with the said photo to celebrate his 37th birthday.
The presence of Heughan's girlfriend in the photo can be taken as the actress' response to the never-ending rumors surrounding Balfe and Heughan. The publication notes that Heughan and Mauzy appear to have been dating since October 2015 and have stayed strong as a couple since then.
Heughan and Mauzy made their relationship known to the public when they both walked the red carpet at the Los Angeles awards event hosted by Piaget and The Weinstein Company in February. This put a momentary stop to all the rumors surrounding Balfe and her "Outlander" co-star.
However, dating rumors between Heughan and Balfe heated up online after the "Outlander" stars were spotted attending a rugby event together. A report from Radar Online also suggests that the couple is simply keeping their relationship from the public and the two have been spotted holding hands even when the camera stops rolling. "The chemistry between them isn't an act," an insider said.
What added fuel to the fire was Heughan's comment on his and Balfe's alleged relationship during an interview with Radio Times. According to the "Outlander" actor, they would not say if he and Balfe were together because they are already giving "so much of ourselves anyway" given the kind of industry they are working in.
