Fans are still reeling from the shocking conclusion of "The Magicians" Season 2 finale, where everyone lost their powers for causing the deaths of Ember and Umber. But is there hope that Quentin, Margot, Julia, Eliot or anybody anywhere will still be able to use magic after "We Have Brought You Little Cakes"? There are speculations that Julia might be able to help Quentin and the others gain their powers in "The Magicians" Season 3.
In "We Have Brought You Little Cakes", the rulers of Fillory had a brilliant plan to get rid of Ember and Umber, as per ScreenRant. Although they managed to get Ember to murder his own brother and then create a powerful weapon to kill the season finale's narrator, Julia also learned why Our Lady Underground warned her about "consequences to killing a god". The furious parents of Ember and Umber decided to remove magic from the world (both in Fillory and Earth), which could be a huge problem in "The Magicians" Season 3. However, there is hope that Julia might be able to help Quentin and their friends now that executive producer Sera Gamble has offered hints about the show's return to Syfy.
Sera Gamble recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the recent season finale and the consequences of Ember and Umber's death. The executive producer also revealed they already have plans on how to deal with the loss of magic in "The Magicians" Season 3. Gamble stated that "the situation is super terrible for [the] characters" but the show's writers have "a lot of ideas for what the world looks like."
But does this mean Julia is the only one who will be able to use magic, no matter how tiny, in "The Magicians" Season 3? Can she help Quentin, Margot and Eliot get their powers back? Or is there no hope of magic coming back to the world? "The Magicians" Season 3 is expected to air on Syfy soon.
