All signs are pointing towards a "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 renewal, as series co-creator Adam Horowitz recently told TVLine that the two-hour finale "has been designed" around ABC's decision on the show's future. While Horowitz refused to comment on whether the show has been renewed or cancelled, his statement, as well as Eddy Kitsis' seemed like they were hinting at a reset on the series.
"Any changes that we have to accommodate have been accommodated," said Kitsis.
Kitsis added that they began planning for the "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 finale at the beginning of the year and viewers will not be left with any unanswered questions when the finale airs. Kitsis also shared that the "OUAT" Season 6 finale will reveal which characters will stay and which ones will go.
This led to speculations that "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 renewal will happen, but a major reset will only leave a couple of characters behind. However, some were doubtful about its renewal, as TV Fanatic notes, the show has not been performing well in the ratings.
According to the publication, "Once Upon a Time" Season 6 ratings are averaging at 0.7 in the demo with a 0.9 rating among audiences aged 25-54. These figures do not seem enticing for a network to give the show another go, but it is also a known fact that the ABC drama still has a handful of loyal viewers and supporters.
