People are still in shock over the recent United Airlines scandal where a doctor was forcibly removed from an overbooked flight. However, many have already noticed the incident's resemblance to the "Black Mirror" episode which aired almost 4 years ago. Has "White Bear" finally become a reality? And will Charlie Brooker find a way to recreate the unfortunate passenger's experience on "Black Mirror" Season 4?
United Airlines is currently in a lot of trouble after three security officers violently dragged Dr. David Dao out of an overbooked flight earlier this week (via YouTube). However, the airline is not the only one being mocked on social media. Some were quick to point out that the other passengers merely watched and made a video as the man was pulled out of his seat. Although it is important to point out that netizens wouldn't know about the United Airlines scandals if another passenger didn't choose to take a video of the incident, people were immediately reminded of the "Black Mirror" episode "White Bear". Could something similar happen in "Black Mirror" Season 4?
"White Bear" certainly is a timely episode. The "Black Mirror" episode followed Victoria, who wakes up with no memory and realizes everyone around her is either trying to kill her or record her murder. It is later revealed that Victoria is actually being punished for videotaping her boyfriend as he killed a little girl, as per Variety. The people who record her torture are guests who want to witness an unusual kind of justice. Is it possible that a similar episode will appear in "Black Mirror" Season 4 following the United Airlines scandal?
The upcoming six episodes of "Black Mirror" Season 4 are still shrouded in mystery and there is no confirmation yet whether the show will pay tribute to the United Airlines scandal. The Charlie Brooker series is expected to premiere on Netflix this fall.
