It has been a year since the "Descendants of the Sun" drama starring Song Joong-Ki and Song Hye Kyo passed, but fans and media still want them to continue their onscreen relationship. There is even a rumor about SongSong, which suggested that their relationship has escalated to a serious level.
The latest news about SongSong couple was from last month during the first anniversary of "Descendants the Sun" as reported by Yonhap News Agency. They joined other cast members and crews who gathered together on March 17 to celebrate the first year's anniversary of the most popular Korean drama in 2016.
"Descendants the Sun" was aired on KBS last year from Feb. 24 to April 14 and re-ignited the new Korean wave, thus brought the SongSong couple to the height of their popularity. Prior to filming the drama, Joong-Ki had just finished his military conscription and he was discharged in May 2015.
His first project was to play a role of a captain of UN peacekeeping mission in a fictional country of Urk in "Descendants the Sun." The drama was a huge success in Korea and international. Furthermore, the chemistry between the SongSong couple was so real, making the International and domestic fans wanted them to continue their relationship off-screen. Some rumors arose that they actually dated and she wanted to be more serious.
Unfortunately, neither of them were interested to be involved in a romantic relationship. But they did not want to make their fans disappointed, so they kept mum about it and it made "Descendants the Sun" becoming more popular with those rumors.
The drama's huge international popularity has made Taiwanese TV plan to remake the "Descendants the Sun" for the Taiwanese and Chinese market, according to Asia Today. Currently, the production team is in the process of casting the actors who will play the role Captain Yeo and Dr. Kang. While in Korea, the drama has given the SongSong couple the Grand Prize for KBS Drama Award. Watch the award ceremony for them from the KBS World TV below:
