It will certainly be a long wait for "The Defenders" air date but at least fans are now aware that the series will premiere in August. The first teaser for the Marvel show has just offered a glimpse at Jessica Jones, Matt Murdock, Luke Cage and Danny Rand together in an elevator. In addition to that, the promo confirms when the series will be available for streaming on Netflix. Interestingly, the teaser was released shortly after "Jessica Jones" Season 2 began filming in New York.
Netflix and Marvel have certainly found an interesting way to announce "The Defenders" air date, which is finally set for August. According to io9, a brief teaser was released then deleted on YouTube. Luckily, the promo is now available again for viewing.
The first teaser for "The Defenders" shows Matt Murdock, Luke Cage, Danny Rand and Jessica Jones rushing into an elevator. Matt appears to have decided to cover his face with the same cloth he used in the first season of "Daredevil" and the men look exhausted. However, Jessica remains alert and she quickly notices a camera, which she destroys just as the timestamp is at 08:18:20:17. The official website for the fictional New York Bulletin newspaper further confirms "The Defenders" air date with a small note at the bottom of the page.
Fans will need to wait another 5 months for "The Defenders" but "Jessica Jones" Season 2 could take a little longer. ScreenRant has just reported that the Krysten Ritter series has just begun filming on April 3. This could mean that the Marvel show will return to Netflix in early 2018.
"The Defenders" stars Krysten Ritter, Charlie Cox, Finn Jones and Mike Colter. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on August 18. Ritter will then reprise her role as the wise-cracking detective in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, which is expected to air sometime in 2018.
