Fans were surprised when all of a sudden, the highly-anticipated "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiered on April Fool's Day. For fans, it was certainly one of the best April Fool's kind of joke that was actually real. The animated science fiction series has received universal critical acclaim and some critics gave it a 100 percent approval rating. Its animation was complemented for its clean and simple style.
When "Rick and Morty" season 3 actually premiered on April 1 unannounced, many fans believed that it was a prank as there were no previous and official reports about its premiere date. The episode was also aired on Adult Swim's official website and IGN reports that it will be aired every night this week at 10 PM. It can be recalled that creator Dan Harmon told Den of Geek that he has no release date for season 2 but said that they hired more writers.
One of its writers also shared photos on Instagram proving that they were already almost done with the development of the third season. However, it turned out that they were actually done and surprised fans on April Fool's Day. "To the 900 waiting in Chicago: Rick and Morty's season 3 premiere started airing. It will be airing on a loop after we're done, you're fine," reads Dan Harmon's post on Twitter.
While fans were thrilled upon learning that the long-awaited series is finally back, it appears that they will have to content themselves for now with the latest episode. This is because the next episodes for "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be aired sometime this year. Meaning, fans will have to be patient yet again until the next episodes air in the coming months.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 episode 1 is titled The Rickshank Redemption, which showcased a determined Summer to save Rick after the Federation colonized the Earth. Meanwhile, episode 2 is titled Rickmancing the Stone, written by Jane Becker.
