Longtime fans of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" were given a nice treat courtesy of the show's stars. Alfonso Ribeiro posted a snap of himself with the rest of the cast members on his Instagram page on Monday night.
The 45-year-old actor, who played Carlton Banks in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," shared a snap of his time with his on-screen family during an outing at Nobu in Malibu, California on the social media app. The snap includes Will Smith, who played a fictionalized version of himself, as well as Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Vivian) and Joseph Marcell (butler Geoffrey).
"Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family," Ribeiro captioned the post. He then went on to pay tribute to the late James Avery by adding, "Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete." Avery, who played Smith's no-nonsense uncle Phil Banks in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," died at age 68 due to complications after undergoing heart surgery at Glendale Memorial Hospital Center in 2013.
"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" ran for a total of six seasons on NBC, spanning 148 episodes during its successful run, which lasted until May 1996, according to the Daily Mail. The series follows Smith, a street-smart teenager from West Philadelphia who was sent to live with his wealthy uncle, aunt and cousins at the Bel-Air mansion in California after getting into a fight in his hometown.
While it's been more than two decades since "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" ended, fans of the show are still hoping that a revival will be in the works. However, both Smith and Ribeiro have ruled out a reboot of the show. Ribeiro, in particular, prefers to not have a reboot in honor of Avery, who he felt was the "centerpiece or nucleus" of the show, according to E! Online.
