Singer Gary Barlow has been roped in for a role in new Star Wars series "The Last Jedi." However, it is still a secret that which role the English star will play. The revelation came from the star himself on Monday on ITV's Lorraine show hosted by Dan Wootton.
Gary Barlow hardly unveiled the character he would portray in "The Last Jedi." He, however, said that he won't play a stormtrooper, but he would be there in the next Star Wards series. He did not provide any hint on what role he has been approached for by the makers.
The latest sequel follows "The Force Awakens" starring Daisy Ridley who played Rey and John Boyega who played a runaway stormtrooper, Finn. The sci-fi saga is all set to release in December. The report of Gary Barlow joining the Star Wars team has come after the expected special appearances of Tom Hardy, Prince William and Prince Harry in the series. The cameo roles will be filmed for Episode VIII of the flick. However, it is speculated that the singer might also play a cameo in the saga.
Gary Barlow jokingly said that he might be dropped out of the project if he revealed anything. "Now I've said that I'll probably be out," the singer-cum-songwriter said as quoted by the BBC. "I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information (is out there). So me saying that, I've probably just done myself out of a role".
Though the singer seems insecure about his role, the Star Wars producer Lucasfilm has confirmed that Gary Barlow will be a part of the next sequel of the saga. It was in 2016 when The Sun reported the singer being spotted filming a cameo at London's Pinewood Studios.
It was the place where major parts of "The Last Jedi" have been shot. The Star Ward Team did not comment on the report at that time but Gary Barlow has now revealed that he was there in the team. Moreover, Disney organized a secret screening for shareholders as well as an LA Times journalist.
