It's hard to imagine anybody else but Chris Evans playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. After all, the "Avengers: Infinity War" star has already portrayed Steve Rogers in five MCU flicks. So is it possible that Evans is ready to move on from the iconic role? The "Gifted" actor has spoken up on the possibility that he might need to pass the Captain America torch either to Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson.
Chris Evans has already confirmed with Esquire that he has already completed his contract with Marvel. Unfortunately, this could mean that the "Gifted" star might no longer appear as Captain America in any MCU movies after "Avengers: Infinity War". Fans immediately started speculating that Steve Rogers will slowly get written off from the franchise's current storyline and push Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson to take on the Captain America mantle.
It might seem like Chris Evans is ready to retire from being Steve Rogers but the actor might still be hoping that his Marvel contract will be renewed. When asked by Collider whether he will no longer be Captain America, Evans responded, "It's really not up to me." The "Avengers: Infinity War" star admitted he loves "the character" and would be "open" to a negotiation on his contract. With that in mind, it may take longer before Bucky Barnes or Sam Wilson will get passed the Captain Marvel torch.
There may still be a chance that Chris Evans will continue playing Steve Rogers in MCU flicks although he might no longer be Captain America. Some believe that Bucky Barnes could take on his best friend's mantle by the end of "Avengers: Infinity War" while Sam Wilson could eventually replace him in the future MCU films.
Should Chris Evans continue playing Captain America after "Avengers: Infinity War"? Let us know in the comments below.
