It looks like it is finally the end of "Sherlock". Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have both been confirmed to be hard at work on Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks. Now Sian Brooke, who portrayed Sherlock's sister Eurus, has joined Tom Cruise in the upcoming "Mission Impossible 6". Does this mean that "Sherlock" Season 5 is officially canceled?
According to Variety, Sian Brooke has been added to the growing cast of "Mission Impossible 6". The "Sherlock" actress will be working alongside Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson. The real life Eurus Holmes is the sequel's latest addition after "Justice League" star Henry Cavill and Vanessa Kirby from "The Crown". Although this is good news for Brooke's fans, this could also mean that "Sherlock" Season 5 will no longer happen anytime soon.
Sian Brooke might not be one of the series regulars, but "Sherlock" Season 5 certainly wouldn't be the same without her. After all, Eurus Holmes played a large role in the fourth season and fans would be expecting Sherlock's sister to be a series regular when the show returns to BBC One. Unfortunately, Brooke's newly hectic schedule isn't the only obstacle that the series is facing in the near future.
It's no secret that Benedict Cumberbatch is currently working on "Avengers: Infinity War" while Martin Freeman has been filming for "Black Panther". The two stars will undoubtedly continue to appear in more MCU flicks while Sian Brooke shoots for "Mission Impossible 6" with Tom Cruise. This could mean that Mark Gatiss was right all along about the fourth season being the last for their BBC One series, as per ComicBook. Nevertheless, fans are still keeping their fingers crossed on the matter. Hopefully, the cast and crew can find time in the future to produce "Sherlock" Season 5.
