"Girls" Season 6 star Lena Dunham has opened up about her frustrations about the criticism she's been getting over her weight loss. She also feels that as a woman working in Hollywood, she is often made to feel that she is not doing anything right.
The "Girls" Season 6 star dropped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday. She sat down and had a chat with daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who complimented Dunham on her look. "You look really good," she told the 30-year-old actress, before expressing her disbelief that the star is still being ridiculed for her appearance even after losing weight.
For her part, "Girls" Season 6 star Dunham admits that she had spent six years of her career being called a "bag of milk," "baby cow" or "aging cow" by several social media users on the internet. "I was like, 'Anyone who is going to take the time to say something negative about my weight on the internet isn't someone I was particularly keen to impress anyway,' she said, according to E! Online.
However, when her body began to transform and was able to shed off the pounds, "Girls" Season 6 star Dunham is shocked to see that she is still being ridiculed, to the point where most of them would label her as a hypocrite for changing. She also revealed that she's been the receiving end of comments that seemingly accuse her of being someone who does not embrace "bodies of all sizes."
She went on to imply, albeit jokingly, that her "Girls" Season 6 co-star Andrew Rannells could gain some weight himself to prove her point. In the end, Lena Dunham confided about her frustrations over the media and internet's focus on her appearance. "It really was evidence that as a woman in Hollywood, you just can't win," she conceded, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dunham suffers from endometriosis, a chronic condition that causes pain in the pelvis. The "Girls" Season 6 star has taken up workouts from Tracy Anderson, as well as yoga and a healthy diet to help her handle the painful chronic illness.
