Actor Michael Shannon is reported to be the favorite front runner to play alongside Ryan Reynolds in "Deadpool 2." The Oscar nominee is reported to be earmarked for the role of Cable in the much-anticipated sequel.
Aside from Michael Shannon other names including David Harbour who appeared in "Stranger Things," have also been shortlisted, Yahoo Movies reported. However, sources have been quoted as saying that the actor of "Nocturnal Animals" is reportedly the favorite name at the top of the selection list.
For "Deadpool 2" Michael Shannon is reported to audition for the role of the mutant, Cable. The character of Cable according to the script possesses psychic capabilities and is the biggest new character to the storyline, the publication reported.
The role for Michael Shannon in the sequel, movie critics have claimed could earn the actor rave reviews as his performance in "Man Of Steel" did as the character of General Zod. Furthermore, the actor will be joined by Zazie Beetz who joined the cast this month for the role of Domino, the Daily Mail reported.
Michael Shannon previously revealed during an interview that he chooses scripts according to the storyline and if it appeals to the audience, the publication reported. Furthermore, he added that the story line in "Man Of Steel" was a beautiful one that drew him instantly.
While Michael Shannon may show an interest, another factor remains which may prevent him from taking on the role, the Hollywood Reporter claimed. The actor's scheduling could be a factor as his current schedule clashes with the shooting dates of "Deadpool 2." The actor has agreed to appear in the Indie film "What They Had" which begins filming next month.
Michael Shannon has appeared as two comic book characters and is familiar with the style of the movies being made. The actor was nominated for his performance in "Nocturnal Animals." The filming for "Deadpool 2" is set to take place in Vancouver, Canada this year for a release in 2018.
