Comedienne Jenny Slate is the first to admit that she and Chris Evans were an unlikely pairing. However, the star declares that she has "no regrets" about the short-term relationship.
In a new interview, Slate confesses that while she loved Chris Evans "so much," it was their differences that drove them apart. She was initially annoyed with the Captain America star's penchant for organizing game nights for his fellow cast members and crew. "Chris is a different speed than me - I think he really did just jump out of a plane for an interview. And so when he was like, 'Game nights,' I was like, 'This is annoying,'" she told Vulture.
Not long after, the annoyance eventually turned into liking, and he essentially won her over with his "unpretentious" enthusiasm once they got to know more about each other. Slate praised Chris Evans as "one of the kindest people" she has ever met. At the outset, she was doubtful about the actor's feelings for her, and even questioned if she was his "type."
"Eventually, when it was like, 'Oh, you have these feelings for me?' I was looking around like, 'Is this a prank?'" she acknowledged. And once they finally gave in and embarked on a romantic relationship, Slate struggled to live a normal life while the career of Chris Evans skyrocketed to new heights, admitting that it was "confusing" for her to be going out with "one of the most objectified people" in the world, according to the New York Daily News.
Both she and Chris Evans have a new film out entitled "Gifted." And while she reveals that they haven't kept in touch since the breakup, she hopes that they will be able to rekindle their friendship once they start on the promo tour for the film. And she only had this to say about their relationship: "No regrets, though. Ever." "Gifted" opens on April 12.
