Hillary Clinton celebrated International Women's Day 2017 with a bang (literally) by debuting a new hairstyle at a public event held on Wednesday. The 69-year-old former Secretary of State first introduced the style while delivering a speech at the Vital Voice Global Leadership Awards at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the nation's capital Washington, D.C.
The aforementioned hairstyle is a shorter fine hairdo with bangs, and paired it with a ruby-red blazer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In her speech, the former Democratic presidential candidate revealed how overwhelmed she has been seeing the level of engagement the public has been showing in light of US President Donald Trump's controversial decision-makings as of late ever since he took his oath and was sworn into office.
"As we all stop to look fear in the face, the result has not only been action, but passion," Clinton said, according to Us Weekly. "Never lose your optimism, your persistence and your resistance. We can build the future we envisioned when we started on this journey with Vital Voices two decades ago, for women, for girls around the world and for us here at home."
Clinton has yet to explain the reasoning behind the chop, but her drastic transformation is one of many transformations that other prominent female celebrities' have gone for recently. American singer Katy Perry sported a new cut - a platinum blonde pixie - which she first debuted last week following her split from Orlando Bloom. To achieve the look, Perry enlisted the help of hairstylist Chris McMillan, who was responsible for the infamous "The Rachel" look.
Besides Clinton and Perry, former "Twilight" franchise star Kristen Stewart has also shown off her bleached buzz cut, which is part of her preparation for her next film. However, the star admits that she had always wanted to have her long locks shaved off.
