J.J. Abrams praised Mark Hamill performance in the "Star Wars Episode 8." The acclaimed director even said that his performance is worthy of an Academy Award.
Abrams, who was the writer, producer, and director of the seventh episode of Star Wars, applauded the performance of the actor who played Luke Skywalker throughout the first trilogy in 1970's and 1980's. In the "Star Wars Episode 8," Hamill continue his role as Luke who now becomes the only Jedi left.
"I think we are all going to be very upset if he does not win an Oscar," Abrams said regarding Hamill's performance in "Star Wars Episode 8" during an interview with New York Daily News. He added, "No one more upset than Mark,”
The 51-year-old actor was in his prime when he played the most memorable Jedi Knight in the entire Star Wars universe since the fist movie "A New Hope" in 1977, followed by Empire Strikes Back" and "The Return of the Jedi." Now in the "Star Wars Episode 8," he reprised the role of Luke Skywalker, the Jedi.
Hamill has never expected that 40 years later, the same character will once again become the most prominent figure in "Star Wars Episode 8." The second film in the third trilogy will revolve around the story of the old Skywalker as reported by Comic Book.
Skywalker made a brief appearance in the seventh episode of Star Wars, “The Force Awakens” as the Jedi Knight who lived secludedly in the planet Ahch-To. The heroine, Rey is set to learn from him to use the Force in the "Star Wars Episode 8."
The main enemy in "Star Wars Episode 8" is Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Luke's twin sister. Kylo Ren was born Ben Solo but later turned to the dark side of the Force and join the Knights of Ren order. Luke will have to encounter his nephew, just like he encountered his father Anakin who had become Darth Vader in the first trilogy.
