Prince Harry brought his girlfriend Meghan Markle to attend his best friend's wedding in Jamaica. They may soon follow to get married, but her status as divorcee makes the wedding seems to be impossible.
In the wedding of Tom Inskip, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared together as a couple for the first time in public. He introduced her to his friends and things seem smooth for them. Inskip who married his girlfriend Lara Hughes-Young may inspire Prince Harry to follow suit according to Vanity Fair.
The couple looked happy and inseparable and Harry's friend teased him that he will be the next to walk the aisle. They see how Price Harry and Meghan Markle are in love and he may propose her sometime this year. One of them said, “Harry is head over heels about Meghan and some of us really think he’ll have popped the question by the end of the year.”
However, the Buckingham Palace may not allow them to get married for some reasons according to Daily Express. One of reason is her status as divorcee. Throughout the history, marriage between British royals and divorcee have received many challenges.
Queen Elizabeth younger sister Prince Margaret had to end her love relationship with Peter Townsend because of his divorced status. Their uncle King Edward VIII had to abdicate his throne in less than one year after his coronation on Dec. 11, 1936, to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson. Their planned marriage has caused a constitutional crisis in England.
However, recently Queen Elizabeth II as the monarch takes a softer stance on the matter. She allowed Harry's father Prince Charles to marry divorcée Camilla Parker Bowles. Following their marriage in 2005, Parker Bowless is granted royal title as Duchess of Cornwall.
It seems Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will also receive the blessing from the queen. Moreover, after they trip to Jamaica they seem inseparable. Watch the report from ABC News on their trip to Jamaica to attend the friend's wedding below:
