Even though the first season just concluded and fans are still picking up their jaws after learning Yuri Katsuki's place in the competition, "Yuri On Ice" Season 2 is believed to be already a done deal. "Yuri On Ice" deals with real-life situations which makes it relatable to a lot of people. Now, the show's creator Mitsurou Kubo revealed that things are definitely far from over and "Yuri On Ice" season 2 may be happening soon.
"Yuri On Ice" explored something that most anime wouldn't dwell very deep into or even scratch the surface of - sexuality. Viewers have become interested about the show's protagonist Yuri Katsuki and his ultimate idol Victor Nikiforov's relationship but before they learn more about their status, the season ended.
But then Mitsurou Kubo hinted the possibility of a "Yuri on Ice" season 2 in an English interview. The Japanese sports anime television series' writer said that she'll be focusing her time and efforts for the remainder of the year on "Yuri On Ice." "I have a lot of plans in the works with the director for next year," the "Yuri On Ice" writer said, adding that she's "working hard" to fulfill her dream of making the "Yuri On Ice" season 2.
Meanwhile, fans began to ship Yuri Katsuki and Victor Nikiforov when the latter showed interest in coaching the shy figure skater, everyone could tell what Yuri was feeling: a giddy excitement from being noticed by someone who looked up to so much. The thought of a young boy meeting his idol definitely captured a lot of hearts and the vibe that the series has given the viewers made them realize that this is definitely more than just fan service.
Unfortunately, even having five-time World Champion Victor by his side as a coach, Yuri Katsuki only ended up winning silver. While that result may have devastated some of the viewers, many took it as a sign that we haven't seen the last of Yuri yet, which makes the possibility of "Yuri On Ice" season 2 even stronger.
