The most recent event, which was presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association together with the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, was held at Santa Monica, California. Several are recognized with intense talents in the nominations but only few were chosen and hailed winners.
The Best Picture and Best Acting Band awards were both grabbed by "Spot Light". It's likely that this year will be the actor's award-winning year since again the Best Actor title was given to Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in "The Revenant". Brie Larson was also awarded her second Best Actress trophy for her much appreciated work in "Room". However, both the actors were unavailable at the venue to receive their awards, although DiCaprio managed to deliver a pre-recorded message offering his thanks to the people who share his success.
Seasoned actor Sylvester Stallone made it as Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Creed". He made it a point to thank his co-star Michael B and director Ryan Coogler for being equally responsible for his victory as reported by ABC News.
The night was extremely elating for the female actress Amy Schumer, as she won the Best Actress award in Comedy for her performance in "Trainweck". She also bagged the Critics' Choice MVP Award. Schumer's acceptance speech came out to be interesting as she began introducing herself as the "plus size" actress, it is then followed by her gratitude towards "Trainweck" director Judd Apatow. She also thanked the managers she fired. She then ended her speech mentioning her boyfriend Ben Hanisch and a reminder to everyone about gun control and violence, ET Online reports.
The evening was marked special with yet another stunning performance by the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" team, including their director J.J. Abrahams who exhibited a "George Lucas Industrial Light and Magic" with the Critics' Choice Genius Award. This particular segment became the highlight of the evening, complete with an on stage performance by the BB-8 droid robot that was featured in the last "Star Wars" flick.
There were many technical awards distributed to the film "Mad Max: Fury Road" starring Tom Hardy. From the same movie, Charlize Theron got the Best Actress in an Action Movie award. For TV, "Mr. Robot" nailed the Best Drama Series title.
