Khloe Kardashian and the rest of the clan may be on board Caitlyn Jenner's transition, but this was not the case from the start. Khloe shared that the family felt "so betrayed" by the news.
But it's not because they could not accept the idea that Bruce Jenner is a transgender. In her sit-down interview on Sirius XM's "Howard Stern Show," Khloe revealed her true feelings on Catlyn's transition. According to the 31-year-old reality star, the rest of the family refused to acknowledge the constant tabloid reports that the former Olympian is a transgender, choosing instead to hear from Bruce (at the time). However, Bruce continued to lie to them, which is why finding out in the end that the rumours were true actually hurt and made them feel betrayed.
"People would think that we were lying...But no, we believed him," she explained. She also revealed that the family first knew of the transition officially already when there were business negotiations, Caitlyn's docu-series. "They mentioned Bruce had a television show about transitioning, and that's the first we heard of it...We felt betrayed because more business people [knew]." She added that it felt as if Caitlyn allowed other people to get a "one-up" against their family even though there were no reasons to because everyone in the family is quite supportive and open with each other. "We've never turned our backs on each, with all the cluster f--ks of shit in our lives, so why would we now?" she added.
Khloe said even though Caitlyn did give them private talks about the issue, she never really said she was going to transition from being a man. "But he never said he was going to transition. He would just say his soul has always been a woman, but I can't tell you if at that moment he really didn't think he was going to transition," Khloe explained.
Khloe said the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan finally learned of the transitioning when they saw his Diane Sawyer interview, when they watched it together as a family. She shared that Bruce wanted them to watch the interview together.
Now that everything has mellowed down, it seems Caitlyn is living the life she always wanted. She's dressing up the way she feels the most comfortable in, giving talks on transgender issues and receiving awards for her contribution to the community. She recently told Vanity Fair magazine that she's trying to learn everything there is to "womanhood." She also used the interview to defend herself against critics who said she is not doing her transitioning right.
