Something positive resulted from Charlie Sheen's HIV diagnosis. According to the "Two and a Half Men" actor, his sickness made him better friends with his dad, Martin Sheen.
In an interview with Dr. Mehmet Oz, which is set to air on Tuesday, Charlie shared that his HIV diagnosis made his relationship with his father better, as reported by Page Six. Gone are the days that they judge each other.
"I don't want to say it's specifically changed our relationship but something happened with he and I. We are such better friends than we've ever been," Charlie said. Instead of judging each other, they just have fun and hang out all the time these days. "We don't agree on everything, obviously. I mean what son and father do? He's a special cat. And I'm really lucky to have him," he added.
This comes as no surprise. Martin's support for son Charlie on this trying period was observed since the news broke out on the HIV diagnosis. According to the elderly Sheen, he already knew of the diagnosis even before Charlie announced it. What he was not sure of was if ever the actor will reveal it to the public. Since the actor did, Martin said he cannot be even prouder of his son's courage, Naples News reported.
On the same intimate interview with Dr. Oz, the actor shared his thoughts on marriage and why he did not marry any of his ex-girlfriends, Brooke Mueller and Denise Richards. He said that his addictions can be one of the reasons to blame. However, he clarified that he was not "cut out for marriage to begin with."
Even without marrying them, he said his girlfriends are terrific and the children he had with them are "amazing." He said he does not regret having children and that he knows for a fact that both Denise and Brooke are doing their best to support the kids. Unfortunately, he just does not always get along with either of the ladies.
