Jennifer Lawrence was answering a question during an interview, talking about her latest Best Actress Award in a Comedy or Musical for "Joy," when she called out a journalist who seemed to be busy with his smartphone.
Lawrence firmly said to the reporter in question, "You can't live your whole life behind your phone, bro. You can't do that. You've got to live in the now."
The awkward situation grew even more awkward when netizens and Twitter fans commented that the actress's behaviour was not only uncharacteristic but that her actions were also unnecessary, Hufftington Post reported.
The 73rd Golden Globe Awards also ignited a controversy when Lady Gaga bounced into "Revenant" lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio while walking towards the stage to receive her Best Actress Golden Globe award for her "American Horror Story: Hotel" performance. Lady Gaga had knocked the Titanic actor's elbow, catching DeCaprio unaware.
DiCaprio's stunned reaction, plus his slightly terrified expression, was captured on camera and quickly made its way to the Internet in the form of countless vines and GIFs, Telegraph reported. Netizens seem to have contrasting opinions on who has wronged who.
Lady Gaga fans have expressed their reactions through Twitter posts calling DiCaprio rude, disputing that the actor should have paid more attention to the awards ceremony and therefore should have become aware of the pop singer's name when called. According to fans, he should have known that Gaga was walking towards the stage.
Several outraged viewers and fans have even advised that Dicaprio was probably laughing at Gaga's feat. Others, however, pointed out that the unpleasant incident was obviously accidental and that if someone was offensive, it was in fact Gaga for not acknowledging the impact.
Reportedly, Gaga intentionally shoved the actor when she saw him laughing. DiCaprio has cleared the issue by saying that his response was totally unplanned.
ET Online informed the actor offstage that the clip showing the incident has already gone viral. DiCaprio defended "I just didn't know what was passing me--that's all!"
