Noah Cyrus, Miley's 15-year-old little sister is starring in a gruesomely visceral graphic ad for PETA's teen-targeted peta2 division to protest animal dissection in the classroom. The recently released ad poster shows a corpse-like open-eyed Noah lying on a lab table with her chest cracked open and peeled away to expose her supposed ribs, lungs and other organs, along with a message that reads: "I Am NOT A Classroom Experiment. Neither are cats, frogs, rats, pigs, or other animals killed for dissection. Please choose not to dissect."
The disturbing poster comes with a video of Noah speaking on behalf of PETA. She is heard saying: "Because I love all animals so much, people should realize they don't have to cut into something to learn about it. You should ask your teacher for other humane alternatives...You'll learn so much more off of the computer. If you have the other option, why not take it?...If you feel weird dissecting something, say no.' I would totally say, I'm not cutting into this animal. I would never do that."
According to PETA, more than 10 million animals are dissected in secondary schools and college science classes every year. "Most of them come from biological supply houses that sell cats obtained from animal shelters, fetal piglets cut from the wombs of pigs killed in slaughterhouses, and frogs who are taken from the wild-a practice that wreaks havoc on local ecosystems," the advocate for animal rights claims. "Studies have repeatedly shown that virtual dissection is more effective in teaching biology than cutting up dead animals."
In related news, PETA recently also launched a protest action during Monday's premiere showing of The Longest Ride in Hollywood. The film stars Scott Eastwood as a professional bull rider who is fighting to save his family's ranch. Bull riding plays a small part in the movie but it was the main target of PETA's protest. The Longest Ride opens in theaters today, April 10.
