Despite straying far from the George RR books that inspired it, the popular HBO show, Game of Thrones is gearing up for the premier of season 5.
17-year-old actress Maisie Williams shares to fans that they should expect big changes to hit them this season. "When I say there's a massive change in Game of Thrones, I think it's the first time I've actually meant it. People are going to think, 'You go through a change every year.' But this year it's on a completely different level - it's so exciting. It sounds so broad, but actually 'change' is really, really specific," Express quotes the actress. Williams portrays Arya Stark in the hit HBO drama series.
Meanwhile, her co-star Emilia Clarke shares that the show's doing well in creating strong female characters. The show's gained both fame and notoriety at the same time due to its recurring sexual violence and has been accused of misogyny because of it. The 28-year-old actress shared some insight on this. Express quotes Clarke, "You start to see all of the women in the show accepting who they are and embodying that with such power that it's palpable. I think that's the beauty of the show: as women, we accept our femininity and take strength from it, as opposed to trying to hide it and behave in a masculine way." Clarke portrays the Queen Daenerys Targaryen in the series.
Speaking of big things and strong women, things are just heating up as wheels begin to turn for several characters in the upcoming season. The first in the list is Tommen Baratheon, played by Dean-Charles Chapman. He entered into the picture shortly after the death of Jack Gleeson's Joffrey Baratheon and was quickly made leader of the Seven Kingdoms. Even if he is thrown to the spotlight so quickly the young Tommen is quickly showing that he is a far cry from his tyrant brother. Another is fan favorite, Tyrion where we last saw him sailing to unknown shores.
Game of Thrones season 5 will hit the small screen on April 12.
