Stephen Amell, 33, the Canadian actor best known for playing the lead character Oliver Queen/Arrow in The CW's hit TV series Arrow, has been cast to portray the Casey Jones character in Paramount and Platinum Dunes' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the sequel to the critically panned but commercially very successful 2014 reboot movie of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film series.
Casey Jones, in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythology, is a hockey mask-wearing crime fighting vigilante who uses baseball bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks and various other sporting implements as his weapons of choice in taking down the bad guys. He is April O'Neal's love interest. In three of the five previous live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, Casey Jones was portrayed by Elias Koteas. In the computer-animated 2007 TMNT movie, the character was voiced by Chris Evans of Captain America fame. A loner who becomes an ally of the turtles and a love interest for O'Neil, Casey Jones is a favorite among fans of the series.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 which is already scheduled for release on June 3, 2016, will have Michael Bay returning as producer along with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are also coming back as screenwriters and executive producers. The sequel movie will be directed by Dave Green.
Megan Fox is set to return as April O'Neil, along with Will Arnett as Vern Fenwick, William Fichtner as Eric Sacks, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, Tohoru Masamune as Shredder, Danny Woodburn as Splinter, among others in the first film. Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio will also be appearing as herself in the film and will act as Arnett's Fenwick's love interest. Los Angeles Clippers players DeAndre Jordan, Matt Barnes, J.J. Redick, Austin Rivers, and Spencer Hawes will reportedly also be doing cameos in the sequel film.
