Customers who pre-order Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Batman: Arkham Knight which is set for release date on June 23 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, will get a special Harley Quinn DLC pack, including four exclusive challenge maps. Players would get to control Harley Quinn navigating these maps and complete them using her "unique weapons, gadgets and abilities."
The successor to 2013's Batman: Arkham Origins and the fourth main game in the Batman: Arkham video game series, Batman: Arkham Knights will once more have Kevin Conroy voicing for the Batman character in the play. In terms of setting, the game's main storyline takes place one year after the events of 2011's Batman: Arkam City with a Batman that's at the peak of his abilities and with the Joker dead. Unlike most video games, Batman: Arkham Knights was handed a "Mature" rating from the ESRB because of the shown "blood, language, suggestive themes, violence."
Most of the gadgets and gameplay elements from previous games in the series return like the grapnel gun, line launcher, batarangs, the countering system and detective vision. Unique to the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, Batman's Batmobile will now be a drivable vehicle in the game. The can be made to jump, boost its speed, rotate on the spot, smash through objects, and fire missiles.
In terms of the characters Batman will be interacting with in the game, Batman: Arkham Knight will have the Caped Crusader battle it out with the super-villains Scarcrow, Penguin, Two-Face, Harley Quinn of course, and Riddler, plus a new villain dubbed the Arkham Knight who has been described as a militarized version of Batman. These super-villains have the sole goal of killing Batman who will continue to be assisted by his friend police commissioner James Gordon and his daughter Barbara in her covert persona as the hacker Oracle. In terms of size, Batman: Arkham Knight's Gotham City is approximately five times the scale of the open-air Arkham City prison in Arkham City. The game takes place in the center of the city, which is split into three island areas, with various districts such as the neon-tinged Chinatown, and the industrial shipping yard.
The Harley Quinn DLC is a prequel with its own back story that reads: "For the first time in the Arkham series, take on the role of Joker's psychotic side-kick Harley Quinn and wreak havoc inside the Blüdhaven Police Department. With this exclusive Story Pack, experience events in the lead-up to Arkham Knight as you infiltrate Blüdhaven to rescue your partner in crime: Poison Ivy. Delve deep into Harley's demented nature and utilize her devastating baseball bat to smash, crash and bash your way to a friend very much in need."
The Harley Quinn DLC Story Pack is one of two add-ons offered to pre-order customers. The other is a Story Pack featuring Red Hood, the former protégé of Batman who takes a more violent approach to crime-fighting.
