This Punk Mutable Rain Frog Can Change Its Shape Faster Than You Can Blink!

CNET has reported the tale of a "punk" frog which can apparently change its shape real quick. This frog can not only create a quick comfulage by changing its color, it can actually change the shape of its skin and quickly blend in to the surroundings, to remain safe from danger. The species of such a frog is called a mutable rain frog, or more scientifically, a Pristimantis mutabili. It was first discovered in the year 2009 in the Reserva Las Gralarias which is situated in central Ecuador.

Even on the day of its discovery, the mutable rain frog was hardly spotted by a scientist and his wife in the rainforests of Ecuador. It was in its best camouflage at that time, but the couple had managed to somehow spot it and register it as a species

It is due to its spiny skin that it has been nicknamed as "punk rocker". On the day of its discovery, the scientist and his wife noticed its charred skin, and somehow this frog sported a very smooth skin when the observed it the very next morning.

The scientists have followed the study of this frog very closely and have managed to register yet another species of a frog that depicts similar behavior. It is called the Ecuadorian frog or more scientifically, the Pristimantis sobetes.

Futurity has reported that the frog does this shape shifting with its skin to protect itself from the birds in the surrounding areas. It is extremely difficult for human beings to locate the punk rocker as it a master of disguise. Only true predators who have vision as good as a hawk's eye are capable to spot the mutable rain frog from a distance and be sure of it.
