America Ferrera, 30, who played the title role in ABC's Ugly Betty and for which she won multiple awards as best actress, is now attached to star and executive produce in the new NBC pilot sitcom Superstore.

Developed for the small-screen by Justin Spitzer of The Office fame, Superstore is an ensemble cast single-camera comedy about a diverse group of employees working at a big-box store in middle America called Cloud 9, and the love story that will ultimately unfold among them. Spitzer will write the script and co-executive producer with Ruben Fleischer who will direct the episodes.

Ferrera will star as Cloud 9's longtime floor supervisor Amy opposite Ben Feldman, best known for his role in Mad Men, who is set to portray the store's new employee, described as a college graduate who wants a taste of the real world. As gathered by Digital Spy, Ferrera's Amy initially butts heads with Feldman's Jonah, but will over time realize she has developed some romantic feelings for him. Despite a rocky start, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the two quickly bond as Jonah helps Amy find more joy at work, and Amy starts to fall for Jonah.

Superstore will have as co-stars Lauren Ash as Cloud 9 assistant manager Dina, Colton Dunn as the sitcom's sarcastic narrator Garret, Mark McKinney as store manager Glenn, Nico Santos as the ambitious employee Mateo and Nichole Bloom as the sweet, unsophisticated and naive pregnant Cheyenne.

Superstore marks the return as a regular in a sitcom TV series for Ferrera, who since Ugly Betty ended its four-season run has been seen more focused on films. She voiced for the character of Astrid Hofferson in the animated movie How to Train Your Dragon and its sequel, as well as appeared in the features Our Family Wedding, Cesar Chavez, End of Watch and X/Y. On the small-screen, she guested in four episodes of CBS' The Good Wife as well as reprised her voice role in Cartoon Network's Dragons, the animated spinoff of How to Train Your Dragon.
