Marvel's Daredevil, the series developed for the cable TV network Netflix by Drew Goddard, and which is set to air all episodes on April 10, will have Charlie Cox in the title role as the blind lawyer superhero and Vincent D'Onofrio as his main nemesis Wilson Fisk, the super villain also known as the Kingpin.
D'Onofrio, 55, who dropped by Uproxx to promote his latest film Broken Horses which will hit theaters beginning April 10, also got to talk about his upcoming Daredevil series in the premium cable channel which he likened to a 13-hour movie. He said: "It goes to places you would never think it goes because of what Jeph Loeb and Steven DeKnight wanted to do. It really does....Our show, to your point, we have 13 episodes of content to take our time because of Netflix. Under the umbrella of Netflix, they're very supportive, and it's not like doing a TV series at all. It's like doing a 13-hour film. So, I think that lends itself to being able to be much more specific and take your time in telling this long story."
With Cox and D'Onofrio in the cast are Deborah Ann Woll as Matt's romantic interest Karen Page, Elden Henson as Matt's close friend and law partner Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Ayelet Zurer as Kingpin's love interest Vanessa Marianna, Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsley, Toby Leonard Moore as Kingpin's right-hand man Wesley, and Vondie Curtis-Hall as the journalist Ben Urich. Recently announced to join them are: Rob Morgan as Turk Barrett, a small-time criminal in Hell's Kitchen; Matt Gerald as Melvin Potter, a machinist caught between a rock and a hard place; Peter Shinkoda as Nobu, a Japanese businessman with an agenda all his own; Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao, a powerful woman running her own trade; and Nikolai Nikolaeff and Gideon Emery as Vladimir and Anatoly, two Russian brothers looking to forge new names for themselves in America.
The upcoming Daredevil series is produced for Netflix by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, with Steven DeKnight serving as showrunner, and Drew Goddard, who created the comic book characters, acting as consultant.
