Jamie Dornan, 32, recently seen as Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of E.L. James erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey," is set to appear next in in the World War II thriller Anthropoid, a real-life story about the attempted assassination of a prominent Nazi official.
Dornan will be co-starring with Cillian Murphy, 38, best known for his role in the BBC TV series Peaky Blinders and for his portrayal of Scarecrow in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Directed by Sean Ellis from a script he has co-written with Anthony Frewin, Anthropoid tells the story of the attempted assassination of prominent Nazi official Reinhard Heydrich, dubbed as "The Butcher of Prague," by two British-trained soldiers from Czechoslovakia's army-in-exile. Dornan and Murphy will play the part of the two Czech soldiers entrusted with the mission to kill the third most powerful Nazi behind Adolph Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. The title of the movie refers to "Operation Antropoid," the code-name for the operation launched in WW II to kill the SS head.
In a promo for his upcoming work, Ellis told reporters: "I feel incredibly proud to bring the story of Anthropoid to the big screen. I have been fascinated by the story for the last 14 years and find it immensely humbling to explore the bravery of the men and women of the Czech resistance who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of their country while dealing a blow into the heart of Nazi Germany. In the Czech Republic, it is a story of great national pride and it's time to tell the world that story."
Dornan is also currently preparing to shoot the drama The Siege of Jadotville, which will premiere on Netflix in 2016. He likewise has roles in the Untitled John Wells project and in The 9th Life of Louis Drax which are both already in the post-production stages.
Murphy will co-star in Ron Howard's The Heart of the Sea with Benjamin Walker and Chris Hemsworth.
