Fox is developing an Expendables TV show with the film franchise's star, writer and director Sylvester Stallone and its producer Avi Lerner who will both be executive producing the small-screen adaptation, according to Deadline. Shane Brennan of NCIS fame is named as show runner for the project. He will also be writing for the series along with Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward.
Also named as producers are Lionsgate TV, CBS TV Studios, and Shane Brennan Productions. Also executive producing are Kevin King and Grant Anderson. The project is described as "a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist." Still at the early stages of development, there is no cast attached nor approached yet according to the entertainment news site.
The Expendables is a series of ensemble action films written by and starring Sylvester Stallone meant to pay homage to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and 1990s era and give tribute to the action stars of those past decades. Presently, there are three films that have been released in the series: The Expendables in 2010, The Expendables 2 in 2012 and The Expendables 3 in 2014. Lerner and Stallone have on various occasions confirmed that they have in the works plans for a forthcoming The Expendables 4, The Expendables 5, an all-female version The Expendabelles, and a solo film on Antonio Banderas' character Galgo.
Aside from Stallone himself, the regular cast of The Expendables cast includes Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Guest starring in the second film are Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Scott Adkins and Yu Nan. For the third film, they are Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, and Robert Davi.
