Stark Sands, 36, best known for his TV roles in Six Feet Under, Hope & Faith, Nip/Tuck, NYC-22 and Inside Llewyn Davis has been cast in the dual male lead roles of the precog identical twins Dashiell and Arthur in Fox's drama pilot Minority Report, a sequel to the Steven Spielberg-directed 2002 movie of the same name head-billed by Tom Cruise.
The sequel is set to take place ten years after the end of the PreCrime police force that was based in Washington, D.C., and it centers on one of the three precogs who is now struggling to lead a 'normal' human life. He remains haunted by visions the future when he meets Detective Lara Vega (Meagan Good), who in turn is haunted by her past, who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.
From Amblin Television, Paramount Television and the network's sibling studio 20th Century Fox Television, Max Borenstein penned the script and executive produces the pilot. Amblin's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank executive produce. Kevin Falls (The West Wing) will serve as showrunner.
The 2002 original sci-fi film directed by Steven Spielberg was loosely based on Philip K. Dick's short story of the same name. Set in D.C. in 2054, when PreCrime, a specialized police department, routinely arrests criminals based on 'foreknowledge' provided by precogs. Tom Cruise starred as the head of the unit, while Colin Farrell played a DOJ agent and Samantha Morton was senior Precog Agatha. Michael and Matthew Dickman starred as the precog twins Dashiell and Arthur, respectively, in the 2002 original.
Sands and Good will be joining a cast in the Fox TV series that also includes Daniel London, who reprises his role as Wally the Caretaker, alongside Li Jun Li and Laura Regan. Fox pilot order Minority Report is set to screen for the 2015-16 broadcast season.
