Random House Children's Books on Wednesday announced that it will publish a recently discovered manuscript with Dr. Seuss sketches, called What Pet Should I Get? The publishing company also said at least two more books are being planned based on newly recovered manuscripts.

What Pet Should I Get? on July 28, making it the 46th book authored under the name of Dr. Seuss, the pseudonym of writer and cartoonist Theodor "Ted" Seuss Geisel, who died in 1991 at the age of 87. His most-celebrated books include Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, Fox in the Socks, The King's Stilts, Hop on Pop, Horton Hatches the Egg, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Random House associate publishing director Cathy Goldsmith says What Pet Should I Get? was likely written between 1958 and 1962, according to Associated Press, since the book features the same brother and sister seen in Dr Seuss's 1960 classic One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.

According to the publisher, Geisel's widow, Audrey Geisel, and his longtime secretary and friend, Claudia Prescott, rediscovered the manuscripts in the fall of 2013 while they were cleaning out his office space at the author's home in the seaside neighborhood of La Jolla in San Diego, California. They reportedly found the full text and illustrations for What Pet Should I Get?, among other work.

Regarding the discovery, Mrs. Geisel in a press statement said: "While undeniably special, it is not surprising to me that we found this because Ted always worked on multiple projects and started new things all the time - he was constantly writing and drawing and coming up with ideas for new stories. It is especially heartwarming for me as this year also marks twenty-five years since the publication of the last book of Ted's career, Oh, the Places You'll Go!"
