NBC's Parks and Recreation is set to air its farewell one-hour episode on Tuesday, February 24. Aptly titled "One Last Ride," the studio teases: "the Parks gang completes one last task together, before saying goodbye to Pawnee."
Based on last week's show, the members of the gang are now just about set to disband and go their separate ways. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is getting ready to split her time between Pawnee and Washington, DC, where she has a new job in the US Department of Interior. Ben (Adam Scott) is preparing to run for Congress. April (Aubrey Plaza) and Andy (Chris Pratt) are also moving to DC where April has a new job. Donna (Retta) announced she and her husband Joe will be moving to Seattle, while Tom (Aziz Ansari) has asked Lucy (Natalie Morales) to marry him. Garry (Jim O'Heir) will begin serving the town as the newly installed interim mayor of Pawnee following Mayor Gunderson's (Bill Murray) passing. Ron (Nick Offerman) however was last seen grieving over the death of Salvatorre, his barber.
Whatever the gang's last and final task together will be, fans can expect a satisfying conclusion to one of TV's best loved TV series. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Amy Poehler said: "We want Pawnee to go on forever and we hope it goes on forever in the minds of people, but it's a privilege to get to end a television show the way you want to end it. That's not always the case, so we're excited about the fans getting a satisfying conclusion to these people that they've hopefully learned and grown to love."
On a less happy note, Parks and Recreation writer and executive co-producer Harris Wittel, 30, was found dead in his home on Thursday, February 19, just one week before the show's series finale airs according to TMZ. Wittel who has already gone to rehab twice is suspected of having succumbed to drug overdose. Drug paraphernalia were reportedly found in his house by responding rescue personnel.
