Teresa Giudice, 41, star of the Bravo TV reality series The Real Housewives of New Jersey just recently celebrated Valentine's Day behind bars with her husband, Joe, also 41. Radar Online [via Classicalite] quoting former inmate Beatrice Codianni wrote: "Teresa will get no special privileges for tomorrow's lovers holiday...He can kiss her when he arrives and kiss her when he leaves, but there is absolutely no hugging or kissing...Joe will not be able to bring Teresa flowers or chocolates...Instead of dinner at a crowded, fancy restaurant, if Teresa is fortunate enough to get a visit she and Joe may share items like cupcakes, candy bars and soda from the vending machine."
In March last year, the couple entered a guilty plea to 41 counts of fraud, following a deal they struck with federal prosecutors. The couple was accused of engaging in bank, mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud which allegedly saw them netting over $5 million over a 10-year period. On October 2, 2014, Teresa was sentenced to 15 months in a federal prison while Joe received a 41-month sentence to be followed by a possible deportation to Italy. Together, they must also pay $414,000 in restitution. However, they were allowed by the court to serve their sentences separately, one after the other, so one parent may be able to stay with their children.
Teresa began serving her sentence first, reporting to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut on January 5, 2015.
Teresa's prison stint could be a death sentence for Bravo's reality TV show according to Radar Online. Quoting an unnamed insider source, the gossip site wrote: "At this point, The Real Housewives of New Jersey is essentially done. Bravo has considered all of their options and they don't feel like there is really a show without Teresa. Whether the other women want to admit it or not she is the star of the franchise. The show simply wouldn't be the same without her."
Bravo executive Andy Cohen however told US Weekly during the 12th Annual Woman's Day Red Dress Awards held February 10 that: ""I can't imagine not filming The Real Housewives of New Jersey. It's a big franchise for Bravo, and I think whatever we do, we're going to do it the right way, so we're still figuring that out right now." Asked by the celebrity news magazine whether there might be a way to still include Teresa even while she's behind bars, Cohen replied: "I don't know the specifics of what they allow, but I can't see them allowing [us to film people visiting her in prison]." But he added, "Anything is possible. There's a lot of people in New Jersey."
