‘Constantine's’ Pilot Season's 13th and Final Episode 13 Will Reveal the Truth About the 'Rising Darkness'

Constantine's (NBC) pilot season's 13th and final episode will air on Friday, February 13, at the 8:00-9:00 pm time slot and is entitled "Waiting for the Man." According to the studio summary, the show's finale will find John Constantine and Zed Martin returning to New Orleans when Detective Jim Corrigan (the future Spectre) asks for their help in the case of a missing girl. There in his territory, the local vodoo shaman Papa Midnite takes steps toward exacting his revenge on John. Meanwhile, the truth behind the Rising Darkness mystery comes to light.

Constantine, the TV series developed by David Cerone and David Goyer based on the characters in DC Comics' hugely popular Hellblazer comic series, stars Matt Ryan as the supernatural detective John Constantine, Harold Perrineau as the angel Manny, Charles Halford as Constantine's oldest living friend Chas Chandler, and Angélica Celaya as the psychic artist Zed Martin. The show's recurring guest cast includes Lucy Griffiths as Liv Aberdeen, Joey Phillips as Nergal, Miles Anderson as Dr. Roger Huntoon, Michael James Shaw as Papa Midnite, Emmett Scanlan as Jim Corrigan/The Spectre, Bailey Tippen as Astra Logue, Jonjo O'Nealle as Gary 'Gaz' Lester, Chales Parnell as Nommo, and Mark Margolis as Felix Faust.

Currently, there is still no announcement from NBC as to whether Constantine will be renewed for another season. The series premiered on October 24, 2014, with a first season comprising only of 13 episodes. In November 2014, the network confirmed that they would not be ordering more episodes past the initial order of 13 for the first season. However, the series still has a possibility to be renewed for a second season according to Deadline. Said the entertainment news site: "While NBC recently made a similar decision on freshmen comedy series Bad Judge and A To Z, I hear the circumstances are different. While Bad Judge and A To Z had been de facto cancelled, Constantine remains in contention for a second-season renewal."

Another report from Cinelinx suggests that while NBC doesn't see a season 2 of Constantine as a viable prospect for their flagship broadcast network, the network is impressed enough by its passionate fan base especially on the social media circuit to not want to have it cancelled outright. Instead, NBC may be considering moving Constantine over to Syfy, its cable channel cousin beginning next season. At Syfy, ratings expectations would be lowered and the level of creative freedom would be increased. According to the site, "the idea here isn't so much to keep Constantine going on NBC but to move it to the Syfy Channel (where the marathon they ran of the show did very well) and re-branding it as Hellblazer.  The new channel would give them a little more freedom to explore some of the darker aspects of the comic and appeal to a broader fan base."
